Whiskey Cocktail Challenge: The Irish Redhead

Not long ago we received an e-mail from our friends at Braddock's American Brasserie. Let me start off this post by telling you how much I love these guys. As a food blogger, it makes my job a heck of a lot easier when places like Braddock's not only boast a mouth watering menu, but also an enthusiastic and extremely active management team who make a point to keep me informed of all the news I need to know.

But I digress...

The latest from Braddock's is extremely exciting. Their Berry Whiskey Smash recipe was featured in the most recent issue of Cosmo Magazine (CONGRATS, guys!) and they wanted to share the feeling of victory with all of us!

What does that mean exactly? All you have to do is share YOUR favorite whiskey recipe, get your friends and family to vote and you could win a $100 gift card to Braddock's! If you think your whiskey recipe can stand up to the rest, simply enter to win on their website. But HURRY - recipes are due by THIS Thursday the 18th.

Of course I find it difficult to back down from a challenge, so I've decided to give it a go and share one of MY favorite whiskey recipes (which I've modeled after myself):

The Irish Redhead

3 oz. Jameson Irish Whiskey
1 oz. Grenadine
5-6 oz. Sprite (can substitute Ginger ale or Club Soda)
A squeeze of both lemon and lime juice to taste
Optional: muddled pomegranate or blackberries

Simply mix your ingredients, stir and serve over ice with a lime wedge or twist.

Unfortunately I was fresh out of fresh fruit when photographing this recipe, but I love to muddle blackberries or pomegranate to add a little zip to this cocktail. If you do this, simply muddle it in the bottom of your glass before you add the ice and the rest of the ingredients.

Think you can beat me? You're probably right!  Enter to win today and when you stop by Braddock's wish them a congratulations on their Cosmo fame and order a Berry Whiskey Smash!

Entries will be posted on Braddock's Facebook page on Friday the 19th and the recipe with the most likes (and is approved by Braddock's) on May 25 will be crowned the winner.

  1. yum :) a drink after my own heart and looks! I rimmed the glasses with sugar, but otherwise fabulous recipe.

  2. I like this, and I learned never mix it with a low calorie soda. It messes with the game.

  3. The myth: If I absolutely focus on alive my abs, my belly will go away. Or, I'm traveling to hit my abs to get rid of this pouch. Short answer, false. No really, doesn't plan that way. Core training and diet should be your mantra.
