TOP-ten: Pittsburgh Restaurant Week Picks

It's that (amazingly delicious) time of the year again! Pittsburgh Restaurant Week officially kicked off today! What does that mean for you? It means a more affordable way to tap into your inner foodie while discovering all the yummy local restaurants and dishes Pittsburgh has to offer!

There are more than 50 restaurants offering creative and unique three and four course meals from between $20 and $40. We realize that there are only seven days in a week and 50 options may be a bit overwhelming, so we'll do our due diligence as food bloggers as PID and I reveal our TOP-ten list of participating places to try:

#10 -- Girasole. Adorable ambiance. Great service. Bruschetta to die for.

#9 -- Habitat. Go for the $15 express lunch. They get you in and out and you get a delicious, locally sourced meal (that tastes MUCH more expensive...) to boot.

#8 -- Ibiza. You need to get the shrimp in the chile lime sauce. You just need to.

#7 -- Braddock's American Brasserie. These guys make a mean (and SUPER creative) pierogi!

#6 -- Franktuary. If their sammies are anything like their out-of-this-world hot dogs, we're totally in.

#5 -- Avenue B. We heart cute BYOB places like Avenue B. Their totally local menu changes constantly, but we're pretty sure you'll love it, too.

#4 -- Meat & Potatoes. Hands down, the best cocktails in the 'burgh and wicked desserts, too. Also - try the bone marrow. We dare you.

#3 -- Bistro 19. Jessica is a KILLER chef. Seriously killer. (And, um, braised pork mac & cheese? Yes. Definitely yes.)

#2 -- Willow. It's one of the few places that we've returned to over and over again. And that's sayin' somethin'.

#1 -- Verde Mexican Kitchen & Cantina. Yeah, so... these guys are offering TEQUILA pairings with their PRW menu? Score. Verde was definitely one of our most pleasant surprises of 2012. We're also floored with how vast their PRW menu is! You can't go wrong here. You simply can't.

PID, the F.O.R.T.s and I are participating our butts off. We're kicking things off at the blogger dinner at Alma tomorrow night, heading to Vivo Kitchen on Wednesday, and checking out Fukuda on Friday.

So, where are YOU headed?

  1. Great recommendations!! Verde is one of the few restaurants offering a brunch special, which we tried at the summer 2012 RW. I have just two words to describe the awesomeness: breakfast nachos. Oh yes.

Hope we run into you guys tonight at the blogger dinner! :)
