Did you wake up hungry? Too early for lunch but too late for breakfast? Fear not, fellow foodies. I have the perfect solution: Brunch at Piper's Pub!
Not long ago, a fair-skinned, scarlet-haired friend K8 traveled west from the Big Apple to visit MM and I. We wanted to take her for a delicious meal and found it only appropriate to honor her roots and head somewhere Irish. Piper's Pub was the perfect place.
I've played soccer (ahem, excuse me, FOOTBALL) for as long as I can remember. One of my favorite things about this place is, no mater the season, there's a match on the telly. Not a fan of footie? No worries, the food will suffice.
We channeled our inner Irishmen and each ordered booze for breakfast. Give me one good reason why not?! Two bloody mary's and a Smithwick's found their ways to our table in no time. The bloody mary was smooth and delicious with just the right amount of kick.
After careful examination of Piper's surprisingly lengthy brunch menu, we all decided on what the Irish lovingly refer to as a Boxty, which when spoken in Gaelic tongue translates roughly to "poor house bread." Essentially, its a creative potato pancake, and the way Piper's approaches it, there's nothing "poor" about them.
K8 and MM both went for the Irish Boxty while I chose the Smoked Salmon Boxty.
The Irish Boxty consists of potato pancake, sausage (or "bangers"), ham, eggs and provolone cheese.

The Smoked Salmon Boxty was filled with fresh salmon, sliced thin, and topped with cool cucumber shavings in a creamy dill sauce. Both were hearty, delicious and filling. My smoked salmon boxty was fresh and unique, the dill sauce was a perfect balance to the light, smoky flavor of the salmon.

if and when you're in the market for a refreshing pint, a thrilling match, or a delicious mid-morning meal - consider Piper's! I can assure you, their boxties are brilliant. Piper's USED to only serve brunch on Sundays. Well, my friends, not anymore. You can snag brunch Saturday OR Sunday these days. And I highly recommend you do.

Ahhhh! Catching up and loving this little gem. K8 wholeheartedly agrees with all stated above. Could go for a bloody Mary right now....
